My name is Jenny Dalleywater and my art name is JennyD Art.

I moved to North Yorkshire about 2.5 years ago, coming up from Kent, where I used to take part in local exhibitions and Open Studios.  Since being in Yorkshire I have successfully exhibited at EDAS, Easingwold’s annual art exhibition, the Boston Spa Art Fest and Art in the Pen in Skipton

I am self taught, regretfully never having been to art college, though art was my favourite school subject and like many people, I refound it towards the end of my working career, though have always been creative.

I love realism and detail and started my new art life trying water colour, however, brushes and I don’t get along as well as I would like, so I gravitated to coloured and pastel pencils, then I discovered scratchboard, which is now my go to medium. It is so portable, can achieve incredible detail, it is inexpensive and colour can be added as desired.  All you need is a board and a knife to create some beautiful work.

I belong to ISSA, the International Society of Scratchboard Artists in the USA and aspire to be as great as the artists I know there, who produce jaw dropping artwork.

It is a wonderfully friendly and helpful organisation and I was lucky to go to one of the annual exhibitions in Ohio to see some of the work first hand, which was truly magnificent.

My main subjects are animals, as fur lends itself well to scratchboard, but I have the occasional life study or portrait in the mix as well.

I attend a weekly international zoom scratchboard workshop, based in Florida, led by Sheryl Unwin, a signature member of the ISSA  and every month or so, join a zoom pastel workshop run by the lovely and very talented pastel artist Amy McKimm.

I run my own scratchboard workshops near Easingwold and for further information about my work or my workshops you can find me at:
