I'm Charlie Gartland, a self-taught artist who drew consistently as a child. However, as life unfolded with work and family taking center stage, my art gracefully stepped into the shadows. It wasn't until 2012, when I received a set of pastels to try, that a reawakening happened. Since that moment, pastel pencils have become my go-to medium, although I also enjoy the occasional dance with oil and acrylic.

My artistic repertoire spans from the furry cuddly companions in our homes to the wild and untamed. I find inspiration in the often-overlooked heroes of the animal kingdom—the doers—the frogs, spiders, lizards, snakes, fish, and other fascinating creatures.

While pastels are often employed suggestively for movement and form, I wield them with precision, delving into intricate details much like colored pencils. Every stroke is a testament to my deep connection with the subjects I portray.
